Faith Community Baptist Church is hosting a special book signing for Rev. Dewey Williams, who has written and published his first book titled “FINDING JOY ON DEATH ROW: Unexpected Lessons from Lives We Discarded (released in February 2023). Rev. Williams’ book covers his six-year experience of working with the women and men on North Carolina’s Death Row. He will be joining us Sunday, August 6, 2023 after the 8:30 am Worship Service for a reception and book signing.

Dewey Williams

Dewey Williams is the Pastor of the Mt. Bright Missionary Baptist Church in Hillsborough, North Carolina. Dewey served as Pastor of the Abundant Life Baptist Church in Denver for ten years. In 2017, Dewey’s sermon series Joy On Death Row won top award at Yale Divinity School and was Yale’s featured speaker at their conference on Joy and the Good Life.

Dewey is a graduate of Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and of Duke University Divinity School with a Master of Divinity. Dewey is a Doctoral Candidate at the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. Dewey is the author of the book Finding Joy On Death Row: Unexpected Lessons from Lives We Discarded which was released in February 2023. His book covers his six-year experience of working with the women and men on North Carolina’s Death Row.

Dewey Williams and Lynne Rochelle McGraw have been married for 48 years. Lynne is beloved at Mt. Bright and is a respected church musician. Dewey and Lynne have two daughters, Charity (deceased), and Tiffany. Tiffany is married to Chris Graves. Dewey and Lynne have three granddaughters, Isabella, Ivy, and India. Dewey enjoys reading and writing inspirational material and spending time with his bride Lynne.
